WDC 2012

Valeverde Tourism makes available some options for tours in Belém and surroundings.

General information about Belém is now available, including how to get downtown and hotels; climate, touristic and others.

It was necessary to adjust our program. The changes were few, but it is recommended to check again the summarized program and presentations.

The detailed program of WDC 2012 is now available, including oral presentations schedule, posters sessions and other related events.

Depending on origin country, WDC 2012 delegates can be requested to obtain a Visa to entry Brazil. This page inform about the Visa request process.

Considering the number of delegates asking for a longer time to prepare the full text of oral presentations and posters, the Organizing Committee extended the dead line to May 31.

The Organizing Committee apologize the delay to make on line registration available. There are two methods for registration fee payment, which are region dependent. In both cases (Brazilian residents or not), the deadline for reduced fee was extended to May 15.

The Organizing Committee booked a number of hotel rooms in different price categories at special rates for the Conference participants. A special deal was agreed with the Hilton Hotel (Conference venue), and the Organizing Committee strongly recommend to delegates to book the Hilton.

Full text of all accepted oral presentations and posters will be included in the electronic version of the Conference Proceedings. Guidelines for text preparation is now available in “Author Guidelines” link, including text organization, oral presentation and poster preparation.

The Organizing Committee is sorry to inform to delegates that we are having some difficulties to link the Registration Form from WDC web page to Visa secure page. It seems to be a question of small adjustments and we hope to make the Registration Form available on line in the next few days. Anyway, the dead line for reduced fee registration was extended to April 30.

Important information to authors is the possibility to publish some selected papers in scientific journals. Besides the Conference Proceedings, we have the offer of 3 journals (Maderas: Ciencia y Tecnologia, Drying Technology and Scientia Forestalis) to prepare special editions with papers presented in our WDC.

The Organizing Committee of the WDC 2012 would like to share with you some news.

The next Wood Drying Conference will be held in Belém, State of Pará, Brazil; from July 30th to August 3rd.

On behalf of the IUFRO Wood Drying Working Party (5.04.06) and the Organizing Committee we would like to invite all of you to participate in this event.

Abstracts can be submitted from September 01 (2011) to January 30 (2012), but we recommend to submit abstracts as soon as possible to have enough time for Scientific Committee review.

The official language for the Wood Drying Conference is English.

The Organizing Committee is working to get financial support for simultaneous translation, so abstracts can be also submitted in Portuguese.

The decision on whether Portuguese will also be accepted as official language will be informed in the Conference website before January 30, 2012.
